Example of etching intersections:

Part A shows the initial mask consisting of three holes.
Part B shows a two dimensional plot of the time evolution.

The holes grow larger and eventually intersect.
At the intersection points, new corners emerge and evolve.
For large times the output shape will be rectangular.
